February 2010 Cubmaster Newsletter

Annual Bowlathon - The time is near! We will be bowling on February 27th in Shinglehouse at the OV Lanes at 2pm. Or you can bowl with the Boy Scouts February 25th at 6pm in Wellsville. Participants must have $25 in pledges to earn a patch and free bowling, 50$ to earn a King Pin T-shirt and $100 or up to participate in the King Pin prize night.
Get your Racing Wheels Ready! The pinewood derby is coming up! Make sure you have your rules and guidebook!!
March 7th - Pinewood Derby Race. 11AM Registration. !pm start racing at the Bolivar/Richburg Elementary School Gym!
March 27th - Council Pinewood Derby Race. 9:30am registration, 10:45 start racing at the Salamanca High School. Entry fee is $6.00 per car and all cars will receive a trophy.
Summer Camp! It's time to start thinking about summer camp! We will be going to Elk Lick Scout Reserve July 8th - 11th, thursday through sunday. Cost is $195 - $30 Incentives = $165.
Pack Meetings - Pack meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6pm at the St. Mary's Parish Hall. No Pack Meeting in February or March. Our next pack meeting is April 28th at 6pm.

January Cubmaster Report
Uniforms - All Scouts and Leaders have had plenty of time to get their class A uniform. I hope to see all Scout's and Leaders in a full Class A uniform by the Blue and Gold dinner!!!
Scout Week Pancake Breakfast - The Allegany County Masons are sponsoring a FREE!! Pancake Breakfast for all scouts, scouters and their families! Saturday, February 6th, 2010 from 8:30 to 10:00am at the Cuba VFW on Rt. 305 (the only building with a helicopter on the roof). All Scouts and Scouters must be in uniform! Menu: Pancakes, Sausage, Eggs, Juice, Coffee and Hot Chocolate. Soda will be available from Troop 708. There will also be displays by the Order of the Arrow, Pine Creek Outfitters, Zoar Valley Canoe & Raft Company, Adventure Calls Outfitters Inc., Scout Memorabilia and more!
Scout Sunday - Scout Sunday is coming up on February 7th. Wear your class A Uniform to your church this day!
Blue and Gold Dinner - During February, the month of Scouting's anniversary, Packs across the country hold Blue and Gold banquets - birthdays for Cub Scouting. Our Blue and Gold dinner is coming up on February 21rst at 2:00pm at the St. Mary's Parish Hall. We will be having a Chinese Auction. If you have items to donate for the Chinese Auction, please turn them in to your den leaders or a committee member. Proceeds will help our pack! Also note: The Bake-off has been moved to the Blue and Gold Dinner!
Get your racing wheels ready! - The Pinewood Derby activities are coming up. Make sure you have the rules and guidebook!!!
February 6 or 7th - Pinewood Derby Clinic, 1pm to 3pm at the Bolivar/Richburg High school technology room! (official date to be announced)
March 7th - Pack 739 Pinewood Derby Race. 11am Registration, 1:00pm Start Racing, at the Bolivar Richburg Elementary School Gym!
Cub Scouts - If you didn't get your car kit from Santa in December, see me! I have them.

Den Meetings - They continue to be at the St. Mary's Parish Hall from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
Popcorn Sale
Our Popcorn Sale began October 14th and will end November 4th.
-The first $75 in profits will help fund our pack program for the year.
-Profits from sales over $250 will begin or add to, your individual accounts.
-Prizes will be awarded.
-Special Patch and certificate for those scouts who fill a page.
-Also, Fill a Pagers will receive the bow and mallow.
Remember, Sell the PROGRAM of scouting not the popcorn!
Important Dates:
-November 4th - Orders must be turned in by this date.
-November 21 - popcorn pickup.
-November 25 - money is due.
Please consider getting involved with the Cub Scout Program!! We are always in need of as many parents as possible. Imagine how well we could do with more ideas, input and help! It takes up very little time and will give you an opportunity to spend more time with your son. Please speak to Sarah Crump or myself for additional details or information. Also if you have concerns, suggestions or questions please feel free to join the committee or stop by a pack committee meeting as a guest to voice your concern, suggestions or to ask your questions.

Den Meetings - Den meetings will begin the first week of October! They will be at the St. Mary's Parish Hall from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

CUBMASTER NEWSLETTER-APRIL 2009
Fill out and send to council the campership application to help pay for camp even if your not sure you will be going by May 1st.
Cub Scout Resident Camp (Cost $190-$30 Incentives)-July 10 thru 13, Friday-Monday
(Elk Lick site assignment is "Shawnee")
- Applications will be collected by Mr. Friend and sent to Council in one package. Applications will be due to Mr. Friend by May 30th so we can get the early bird incentive.
- Theme--"Treasure Island"--We will need help for decorating our camp site and float for the Pioneer Oil Day parade.
Memorial Day Parade--May 25th. We will have a float in this parade. We are looking for volunteers to decorate the float. We will be decorating it in a Patriotic Theme (flags, stars, red, white, blue,etc). Your Den Leaders will provide further information.
Pioneer Oil Day Parade June 27th-We will also have a float in this parade. We will be decorating it with the summer camp theme ("Treasure Island") Further details to come...
Den Meetings-What do Scouts need to bring to Den Meetings? Dues, books, dressed in full uniform. Also, feel free to help out the den leaders at the weekly den meeting, as it is a good way for your child to be more involved as well. Reminder: Tigers must have a Parent or Legal Guardian with them at their meetings.

April Pack Meeting - Wildlife Rehabilitator

Hey all, I want you all to know that at April's Pack meeting will feature a Wildlife Rehabilitator, Mr. Mark Baker! He will bring in wild birds: Owls, Falcon's, Hawks, Turkey Buzzard? Who knows what he'll bring, but it will surely be a HOOT! Mark has visited us before and recently visited a troop meeting. VERY EXCITING! It is ALWAYS a Pleasure to have him visit us! Come and enjoy the experience of seeing Wildlife in Person! Hey Scouts, Invite a Friend! They might have fun too!!!
